Vera Alice Santos Zimmermann (born March 30, 1964) is a Brazilian actress and public figure known for her work in film, theater, and television. She gained prominence for her performance in the 1999 film Ela Perdoa.

Career

Zimmermann began her career in the early 1980s, performing in stage productions such as Eterno Retorno and Macunaíma, collaborating with acclaimed figures including Nelson Rodrigues and Antunes Filho.[1]

In 2015, she joined RecordTV, portraying Princess Henutmire in the historical drama Os Dez Mandamentos. Two years later, she appeared as Queen Neusta in the series O Rico e Lázaro.

Public discussion

In 2005, Zimmermann was featured on the cover of Época with the headline "I Had an Abortion," where she openly discussed terminating a pregnancy at age 25.[2] The cover generated widespread public debate and received the Esso Journalism Award for its design.[3]

The song "Vera Gata" by Brazilian musician Caetano Veloso is reportedly inspired by her.[2]
