Vila Nova de Poiares (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈvilɐ ˈnɔvɐ ðɨ poˈjaɾɨʃ] ⓘ) is a municipality in the Coimbra district, in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 7,281,[1] in an area of 84.45 km².[2] This place has rivers such as Alva, Ceira and Mondego. There are also mountains. Vila Nova de Poiares is also known as the "National Capital of Handicrafts and Gastronomy."[3]
