The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality is a state environmental agency that is responsible for administering laws and regulations related to air quality, water quality, water supply, and renewable energy and land protection in the U.S. state of Virginia.[1][2]

Activities

The agency was established in 1993 and provides assistance for air and water quality improvements, coastal zone management, and the remediation of contaminated water and land. The agency issues permits, conducts inspections and monitoring, and enforces regulations and permits.[3][4][5] The agency currently has around 800 employees across seven offices in Virginia.[3][6]
