By day, WDLA is powered at 5,000 watts using a non-directional antenna. But at night, to avoid interfering with other stations on 1270 AM, it greatly reduces power to 89 watts. The transmitter is on Radio Station Road off New York State Route 206 in Colchester, New York.^[3]

Programming

Weekdays on WDLA began with two syndicated newsmagazine shows, America in the Morning and This Morning, America's First News with Gordon Deal. They're followed by The Brian Kilmeade Show, The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show, The Sean Hannity Show, The Mark Levin Show, America at Night with Rick Valdes and Red Eye Radio.^[4]

Weekends included The Ramsey Show with Dave Ramsey, The Dana Loesch Show, The Lars Larson Show, The Weekend with Michael Brown, The Ben Ferguson Show, Fox Across America with Jimmy Failla, Fox News Sunday and Meet The Press. Fox News Radio provided updates each hour.

History

WDLA signed on the air on May 30, 1951 (1951-05-30).^[5] It was owned by the Delaware County Broadcasting Corporation.

WDLA was originally a daytimer powered at 1,000 watts but required to go off the air at night. In the 1980s, the station was authorized by the Federal Communications Commission to broadcast at 5,000 watts in the daytime and run with limited power at night.^[6]

The station went silent in mid-2025 for economic reasons. Vince Benedetto’s Bold Gold Media Group has offered to buy WDLA and sister station WDLA-FM 92.1.^[7] Bold Gold owns 15 stations in Upstate New York.
