Notes

  1. Brown resigned his seat before the next election in 1978. He would later become a Harrogate Borough Councillor in 2008.[5][6]
  2. Procter became a Member of the European Parliament for Yorkshire and the Humber in November 2016. In 2017, Procter was not re-selected as a Conservative candidate to stand in his council ward at the 2018 election.[10]
  3. The by-election was called to find a successor to Gerald Wilkinson following his death in October 2019.[11][12]
