Working for Workers Act, 2023

The Working for Workers Act, 2023 (French: Loi de 2023 visant à oeuvrer pour les travailleurs) is an act of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario relating to labour rights.

Provisions

The act modifies the rules around mass layoffs to include remote workers.^[1][2]

The legislation establishes new health and safety protections for workers, including fines for the withholding of passports, and cleaner and women-only washrooms on construction sites.^[3] Properly fitting personal protective equipment is also required.^[4]

Commencment

The act came into force on October 26, 2023.^[5]
