The World Council of Fisheries Societies is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation intended to promote international cooperation in fisheries science, conservation and management.[1] The Council consists of 10 member organisations, and arose from the 1st World Fisheries Congress in Athens, Greece in 1992.

  1. The 8th World Fisheries Congress was originally scheduled for 11–15 October 2020,[5] but was postponed for one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
