Yakov and Partners is an international consulting company formed in 2022 through the sale of assets of McKinsey & Company CIS (the Russian subsidiary of McKinsey & Company) to its management. Its headquarters is located in Moscow, Russia.[3]

In late February 2022, McKinsey & Company announced that it would suspend operations in Russia[4] but was willing to transfer all client accounts and pertinent paperwork to local partners upon completion of the deal. In May 2022, McKinsey & Company sold its Russian business to the local management.[5][6] The deal amount was not disclosed.[7] In August 2022, McKinsey & Company CIS was rebranded as Yakov and Partners[8][9] (the name change was one of the conditions of the deal).[10]

In 2023, the company initiated strategic partnerships with the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, the Moscow Chekhov Art Theatre. In the same year, Yakov and Partners set up an industrial chair at the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE).[11]

In early 2024, the Graduate School of Management at Saint Petersburg State University partnered with Yakov and Partners to launch an educational program titled "Strategy and Consulting".[12] In September 2024, a long-term strategic cooperation agreement was signed with the Roscongress Foundation.[13] In October 2024, the company participated in a seminar for financial authorities of BRICS countries.[14] In November 2024, a long-term strategic partnership agreement was signed with the Federal Service for Labour and Employment (Rostrud).[15]

Business model

The newly formed company brought together over 15 partners who had previously worked at the Big Three consulting firms, i.e., McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), and Bain & Company.[16][17] It now focuses on projects in the energy,[18][19] finance,[20][21] agriculture,[22][23] construction,[24][25] IT,[26][27] transportation,[28][29] logistics,[30] retail,[31][32] consumer goods,[33] metallurgy,[34][35] oil & gas industries,[36][37][38] and the public sector.[39][40]

Yakov and Partners provides services to a broad range of regional and international clients, including government agencies, international financial organizations, and cultural institutions.[41] The firm offers access to international databases as well as proprietary know-how and analytical tools.[40]

The company delivers projects in management consulting, including strategy development and implementation, operational and organizational excellence, change management, digital transformations, M&A, and turnkey business development. It facilitates business interactions between domestic and foreign companies and provides analytical support and expertise across BRICS.[40]
