The company was founded as Cinnabar Ventures, Inc., a Nevada corporation, on May 24, 2006, and changed its name to Yippy, Inc. in April 2010. It is based in Miami, Florida.[3]
In May 2010, Yippy acquired Clusty, a search engine developed by Pittsburgh-based Vivisimo, including a perpetual commercial license for Vivisimo’s Velocity software for US$5.5M.[4] Vivisimo’s technology was later acquired by IBM and rebranded into IBM Watson Explorer.[5]
In 2012, Yippy received "Welcome to the Cloud" as a registered trademark with the USPTO.[6]
In 2012, Yippy acquired data connector frameworks from MuseGlobal.[7] In 2015, the company announced a partnership with Globalstar to deliver enterprise search and data services via satellite networks.[8]
In 2017, Yippy launched Sat-Browse, a browser for Globalstar satellite users, and secured an enterprise search contract with Digital Federal Credit Union. That year, Steven I. Cooper, former CIO of the United States Department of Commerce, joined its board.[9] In 2019, David Weild IV, former Vice Chairman of NASDAQ, was appointed to the board.[10]
In December 2018, Yippy formed a sales distribution alliance with StarHub, to distribute its search platform.[11]
In 2019, Yippy Inc. CEO Rich Granville organized in Atlanta a "Digital Soldiers Conference", with the aim of preparing "patriotic social media warriors" for a coming "digital civil war" against "censorship and suppression". The event featured several prominent Donald Trump supporters, including Michael Flynn and George Papadopoulos. At the time, Granville also used many QAnon references on Twitter.[12]
In late April 2021, Yippy's site started redirecting to DuckDuckGo, and was later decommissioned in 2021.[13] In late 2023, the company launched Togoda.com, described as an AI-assisted thematic search engine.[14]
Yippy remains a registered C corporation in Nevada and an active foreign corporation in Florida.[15][16]
