History

York Township was named after the state of New York, the point of origin of many of its early settlers.^[5]

Bonneyville Mill was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.^[6]

Geography

According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 25.54 square miles (66.1 km²), of which 25.31 square miles (65.6 km²) (or 99.10%) is land and 0.23 square miles (0.60 km²) (or 0.90%) is water.^[4] Hunter Lake is in this township.
