Yunis Abdelhamid (born 28 September 1987) is a professional footballer who plays as a centre-back.[1] Born in France, he plays for the Morocco national team.[2]

Club career

Out of contract from Valenciennes, Abdelhamid joined Dijon on a three-year contract on 15 May 2016.[3]

Abdelhamid helped Reims win the 2017–18 Ligue 2 and promote to the Ligue 1 for the 2018–19 season.[4] He was also made the captain of the club.[citation needed]

Following the 2023–24 season, after seven years at Reims, Abdelhamid left the club as a free agent to sign for Saint-Étienne on a one-year contract with an optional additional year.[5][6]

International career

Abdulhamid was called up to the Morocco national team for a friendly against Albania on 1 September 2016, but did not feature.[7] He made his official debut in a 2–0 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualification win over São Tomé and Príncipe.[8]

On 28 December 2023, Abdulhamid was amongst the 27 players selected by coach Walid Regragui to represent Morocco in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.[9][10]
