Zholaman Sharshenbekov (born September 29, 1999) is a Kyrgyz Greco-Roman wrestler. [1] He won one of the bronze medals in the 60 kg event at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.[2] He is a four-time medalist, including two gold medals, at the World Wrestling Championships (2018, 2021, 2022, 2023). He is also a five-time medalist, including three gold medals, at the Asian Wrestling Championships (2018, 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024).[3][4][5]

Career

In 2020, he won the gold medal in the 60 kg event at the Individual Wrestling World Cup held in Belgrade, Serbia.[6]

In 2022, Sharshenbekov won one of the bronze medals in the 60 kg event at the Dan Kolov & Nikola Petrov Tournament held in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria.[7] He won the gold medal in his event at the 2022 Asian Wrestling Championships held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.[8] He won the gold medal in his event at the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games held in Konya, Turkey.[9] He won the gold medal in the 60 kg event at the 2022 World Wrestling Championships held in Belgrade, Serbia.[10]

Sharshenbekov won the gold medal in the 60 kg event at the 2022 Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China.[11] He defeated Ayata Suzuki of Japan in his gold medal match.[11]
