Etymology 1

Inherited from Proto-Indo-European *h₁m-ǵʰi, from *h₁me- (me) and the particle *ǵʰí. The particle is also found as (-z) in քեզ (kʻez), մեզ (mez), ձեզ (jez), with the regular development of *ǵʰզ (z) between vowels.

Compare Hittite [script needed] (ammuk), Latin mihī, Proto-Germanic *mik, Ancient Greek ἐμέγε (emége).
