From Arabic ﻟِسَّاعَة (lis-sāʕa, until now, literally [up] to the hour). Compare Iraqi Arabic هسا (hassa), Maltese issa, both “now”.

From Arabic لِلسَّاعَة (lis-sāʕa, until now, literally [up] to the hour). See above. Elsewhere in Levantine Arabic, a presumably older form لِسَّاع (lissāʕ) was attested in Syria.
