1. (astronomy) Any of the meteors in a meteor shower that appears to come from the constellation Hydra.

     a similarly bright meteor at 12^h 33^m was probably an α Hydrid

   • 2013, D. Šegon et al., “A possible new meteor shower - η Hydrids”, in WGN, Journal of the International Meteor Organization‎:

     The radiant analysis that included orbits from the Croatian Meteor Network Catalogues of Orbits 2007 to 2010 plus the orbits from the SonotaCo catalogues for 2007 to 2011 revealed a possible new Hydrid stream with radiant running parallel to, but distinct from, the sigma Hydrids.
