  1. (obsolete) A taxonomic class within the kingdom Plantae – a polyphyletic taxon comprising all octandrous plants (those having eight stamens in each flower).

Usage notes

This taxon was erected by Carl Linnaeus as an aid in classification, but was not intended to represent a natural grouping.
