Etymology
From French Roze (surname) + -ella (feminine diminutive suffix), named after French botanist Ernest Henri Roze. The name is sometimes erroneously claimed to come from American herpetologist Rozella B. Smith, who was born in 1911, thirty-nine years after the taxon's publication.
Coined by French botanist Maxime Cornu in 1872.
