Inherited from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *qutut (“flatulence; to fart”), from Proto-Austronesian *qətut (“fart; flatulence”). Cognate with Aklanon utot, Tagalog utot, Bikol Central atot, Asi utot, Cebuano utot, Maranao tot, Waray-Waray tot. Compare Malay kentut and Thai ตด (dtòt).
