  1. Conversion to a decimal system.
    • 1971 April 30, “Research by Experiment”, in Nature, volume 230, number 5296, →DOI, page 603:
      In these days of decimalization and metrication it is a pity that SI units were not used as this will date a very useful little book prematurely.
  2. Specifically, conversion of the currencies of the United Kingdom and Ireland in 1971 from pounds, shillings and pence to a decimal system in which one pound was worth 100 new pence (later renamed simply pence).
