From di- (“from, of”) + golwch, gwolwch (“praise”), from golychaf, gwolychaf (“to praise”), from Proto-Indo-European *telkʷ- (“to speak”). Related to Old Irish ad·tluchedar (“to give thanks, rejoice at”).
