Borrowed from translingual Eclipta, from Latin eclīpta, from Ancient Greek ἐκλείπτης (ekleíptēs, “forsaker, deserter, abandoner”), from Ancient Greek ἐκλείπω (ekleípō, “to leave out, to pass over”).
