Possibly cognate with Norwegian Nynorsk gleppa (“to slide”), Old Norse glepja. Compare with origin of glipa, glop, gläfsa.

   The back of the sole of the shoe is loose (and moves relatively to the rest of the shoe)

   You talk too much (your mouth is loose)
