Inherited from Old Catalan rebu(t)jar~rebuyar~rebuiar, inherited from Latin repudiāre. Doublet of repudiar, which was borrowed from Latin.

- (transitive) to reject, to turn down, to refuse, turn one's back on
- (sports, transitive) to clear (to defend the goal by moving the ball away)
