Borrowed from Danish redde, from Middle Low German redden. Attested since the second half of the 19th century.

  1. (informal) to fix, to work something out [with dative]

    Can you work this out?
    Ég redda þessu sjálfur.
    I'll figure it out myself.

  2. (informal) to provide, to obtain, to procure [with dative ‘for someone’ and dative ‘something’]
