English
Etymology
Noun
- (dated, derogatory) Speech seen as vulgar and improper, especially that associated with uneducated and low-class people; slang.
- 1907, The Children's Friend, volume 6, Deseret News, page 208:
- That is what I mean by street talk. All such coarse, vulgar words, especially the rough tone and manner, you hear on the street. They belong to those boys who have never been taught any better, and to those men, who, though knowing better, yet do not care anything about the better way. But my boy should never use street talk.
