Etymology

Inherited from Old Norse [Term?]. Compare Icelandic þrúga f (human snowshoe), Old Norse þrjúgr m and Norwegian Nynorsk truge f (human snowshoe). The Norwegian word in some areas had original use as the Swedish one, but now means a snowshoe made for humans (not horses).
