With dialectal devoicing of -dh-, from dialectal urdh, masculinized from dialectal urdhë, from Proto-Albanian *wurdā, from Proto-Indo-European *wr̥dʰo (“sweetbriar”). Compare dialectal Norwegian erre, orr (“bush”), Latin rubus (“bramble”), Persian گل (gol, “flower”)).
