- (intransitive) to be joined together, be combined; to merge, combine, join, coalesce [with illative ‘into’ (of one thing merging into another); or reciprocal or with (genitive and/or possessive form +) kanssa ‘with’, along with translative ‘to form a’ (of multiple things merging together and forming something new)]
- Puro yhdistyi jokeen.
- The creek merged into the river.
- Kaksi puroa yhdistyi joeksi.
- Two creeks merged to form a river.
- Läntinen puro yhdistyi itäisen puron kanssa joeksi.
