Cahul (ven. Кагу́л, Kagul, ukr. Кагу́л, Kahul) on Moldovan eteläsosien merkittävimpiä kaupunkeja ja Cahulin piirin hallintokeskus.[2][3] Kaupungin väkiluku oli vuoden 2014 alussa noin 40 900. Tämä oli noin kolmannes Cahulin piirin 124 700 asukkaasta.[1] Kaupungin väkiluku oli kasvanut runsaalla 5 000 hengellä vuosikymmenessä, sillä vuoden 2004 väestönlaskennassa asukkaita oli 35 488.[4]

Cahulin seudulla käytiin aikoinaan eräs Venäjän–Turkin sodan (1768–1774) ja koko vuosisadan suurimmista taisteluista. Tämä Cahulin taistelu (eli Kagulin taistelu) käytiin heinäkuussa 1770 ja päättyi Venäjän imperiumin voittoon. Neuvostoliiton aikana tapahtumalle pystytettiin muistomerkki Cahuliin.[2]
Kaupungissa toimii kaksi yliopistoa. Näistä tunnetumpi on vuonna 1999 perustettu Cahulin valtionyliopisto, joka on nimetty Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeun mukaan.[2][5]
