Fugger oli saksalainen kauppiassuku, joka toimi 1400- ja 1500-lukujen Euroopassa. Aluksi Augsburgin vapaakaupungista ja myöhemmin Tirolista käsin toimintaansa harjoittanut Fuggerien kauppiassuku oli pankki- ja rahoitusalan keskeisimpiä toimijoita. Kauppahuoneen liiketoiminta käsitti paitsi yksityissektorille suunnattua pankki-, sijoitus- ja liiketoimintaa, myös merkittävää luotonantoa aikakauden hallitsijoille.[1]

1300-luvulta lähtien varallisuuttaan kasvattaneen suvun tunnetuin jäsen on Jakob Fugger, jonka aikana suku nousi kiistatta aikansa merkityksellisimmäksi kauppahuoneeksi Euroopassa. Jakob Fuggerin tunnetuin liiketoimi lienee hänen Kaarle V:lle Pyhän saksalais-roomalaisen keisarikunnan keisarinvaalin voittamiseksi myöntämä 543 000 floriinin laina. Fuggerin kauppahuone oli lähes koko historiansa ajan kiinteässä liikesuhteessa Habsburgien hallitsijasukuun ja vaikutti siten merkittävästi ajan politiikkaan Euroopassa.[1] Paitsi piinkovina kapitalisteina Fuggerit kunnostautuivat myös merkittävinä hyväntekijöinä rakentamalla ja ylläpitämällä köyhäintaloja, joista tunnetuin on yhä toimiva Augsburgin Fuggerei.
Fuggerin suvulla oli 1500-luvun puolivälissä 4,5 miljoonan guldenin omaisuus.[1]
