Paul Goodman

Paul Goodman (9. syyskuuta 1911 New York – 2. elokuuta 1972 North Stratford, New Hampshire) oli yhdysvaltalainen kirjailija, anarkisti, psykoterapeutti sekä monipuolinen kulttuuri- ja yhteiskuntakriitikko.

Goodmanin kaunokirjallinen tuotanto pitää sisällään runoutta, novelleja, romaaneja ja näytelmiä. Yhteiskunnallisena ajattelijana hänen tunnetuimmat teoksensa käsittelevät esimerkiksi kasvatus- ja koulutusjärjestelmää tai kaupunkisuunnittelua. Anarkismin piirissä Goodmania on brittiläisen Colin Wardin ohella pidetty ensisijaisesti anarkististen periaatteiden käytäntöön soveltamisesta kiinnostuneena ajattelijana.^[1] Psykoterapian alalla Goodman kehitti 1940- ja 1950-luvuilla Fritz Perlsin ja Laura Perlsin kanssa uutta suuntausta, gestalt- eli hahmoterapiaa.^[2] Kotimaassaan Goodman nousi suuren yleisön tietoisuuteen 1960 julkaistulla teoksellaan Growing Up Absurd ja hänen on nähty keskeisesti vaikuttaneen esimerkiksi 1960-luvun opiskelijaliikkeeseen.
