Dháréag naomh manachúil Éireannach a rinne staidéar faoi stiúir Naomh Finnian sa 6ú haois ab ea Dhá Aspal Déag na hÉireann.[1]
Bhí Mainistir Chluain Ioraird, a bhí suite ar Abhainn na Bóinne i gContae na Mí sa lá atá inniu ann, ar cheann de na scoileanna mainistreach is tábhachtaí in Éirinn na luath-Chríostaíochta. Le linn an 6ú haois, rinne cuid de na daoine ba shuntasaí i stair na Críostaíochta in Éirinn staidéar i Mainistir Chluain Ioraird. Deirtear go raibh thart ar 3000 scoláire faoi theagasc ann, ar an meán.
De réir seanchais, rinne dháréag scoláire staidéar ansin faoi stiúir Naomh Finnian, grúpa ar a dtugtar Dhá Aspal Déag na hÉireann. Tá an scéal seo taifeadta i lámhscríbhinn ón 17ú haois (bunaithe ar fhoinsí níos sine, b'fhéidir) dar teideal Dá apstol décc na hÉrenn. Ba le Mícheál Ó Cléirigh an lámhscríbhinn seo (Bibliothèque Royale, An Bhruiséil, MS 2324–2340), 1629.[2]
Sa scéal seo, bailíonn an dáréag aspal le chéile le haghaidh fleá i dteach Naomh Finnian, agus tagann bláth draíochta os a gcomhair. Socraítear go ndéanfadh duine acu turas ar thír dhúchais an bhlátha, agus go gcuirfí rogha an duine ar crannchur. Nuair a thiteann an crann ar Bhreandán Bhiorra, fear scothaosta, téann Breandán Chluain Fearta (Breandán moccu Altae), atá níos óige, ina ionad. Téann Breandán chun bealaigh le lucht coimhdeachta mór, agus tarlaíonn go leor eachtraí dóibh, mar a insítear i Betha Brénainn Clúana Ferta, mar shampla.[3]
