Luis Puenzo, nado en Buenos Aires o 19 de febreiro de 1946, é un director e guionista de cinema arxentino. Obtivo o Óscar ó mellor filme en lingua non inglesa en 1986 coa súa primeira longametraxe, La historia oficial, unha historia sobre os desaparecidos pola ditadura arxentina. Pouco prolífico, rodou menos de media ducia de filmes dende entón, incluíndo Gringo viejo, con Gregory Peck sobre unha novela do mexicano Carlos Fuentes, e La peste, con William Hurt e Robert Duvall adaptando a novela homónima de Albert Camus.
