Dorothea Friederike von Schlegel (néeBrendel Mendelssohn; 24 Oktober 1764–3 Agustus 1839) adalah seorang novelis dan penerjemah Jerman.
Ia lahir dengan nama Brendel Mendelssohn pada 1764 di Berlin.[1] Sebagai putri sulung dari filsuf Moses Mendelssohn, seorang figur utama dalam Pencerahan Jerman (Aufklärung). Pada 1783, ia menikahi saudagar dan bankir Simon Veit, saudara dari dokter David Veit. Putra mereka, Philipp Veit, kemudian menjadi bagian dari kalangan pelukis Kristen Jerman.
In older literature and on her gravestone one finds the date 1763, but this is the birthyear of her elder sister Sara (May 23, 1763 – April 15, 1764) whose death was one of the reasons Moses Mendelssohn wrote the Phaedon.
