Ideologi Pentungan Besar, diplomasi Pentungan Besar, atau kebijakan Pentungan Besar mengacu pada kebijakan luar negeri Presiden Amerika SerikatTheodore Roosevelt: "bicaralah dengan lembut dan bawalah pentungan besar." Roosevelt menyebut gaya kebijakan luar negerinya sebagai "pelaksanaan pemikiran cerdas dan tindakan penting yang mendahului kemungkinan krisis apapun".[1]
Ide perundingan damai sambil mengancam dengan "pentungan besar" atau militer sangat berkaitan dengan ide Realpolitik. Realpolitik adalah tindakan meraih kekuasaan politik yang mirip dengan pemikiran Machiavellianisme.[2] Ideologi ini dapat disamakan dengan diplomasi senjata yang diterapkan negara-negara besar dalam politik internasional.
