Maurice Bucaille

Maurice Bucaille (19 Juli 1920 – 17 Februari 1998 ^[2]) adalah seorang ahli bedah spesialis di bidang gastroenterologi^[3] dan pengarang berkebangsaan Prancis. Pada tahun 1973, dirinya diangkat sebagai dokter keluarga Raja Faisal dari Arab Saudi. Para pasiennya termasuk anggota keluarga Presiden Mesir Anwar Sadat.^[4] Dia masuk Islam dari Kristen.^[5] Ia terkenal dengan bukunya The Bible, The Qur'an and Science yang dirilis pada tahun 1976.^[6]

Bucailleisme

Bucailleisme adalah istilah yang digunakan ilmu pengetahuan modern dengan agama, terutama islam.^[7] Semenjak penerbitan buku The Bible, The Qur'an and Science;^[8] Al-Quran adalah kitab yang benar berasal dari Tuhan, mengklaim bahwa di dalamnya berisi fakta-fakta ilmiah.^[9][10]

Menurut The Wall Street Journal, Bucailleisme "adalah seperti kreasionisme-nya Islam dalam beberapa aspek" di mana, "di saat gerakan kreasionisme menolak sebagian besar sains modern, Bucailleisme berusaha memeluknya."^[11]

Kritikus sastra, Sameer Rahim, menulis di The Daily Telegraph, bahwa "klaim-klaim (Bucaille) dianggap sebagai benar oleh para ilmuwan dan teolog mutakhir".^[12]
