Arthur Baker

Arthur Baker (Boston, 22 aprile 1955) è un produttore discografico e disc jockey statunitense considerato un pioniere dell'electro, del freestyle e del primo hip hop^[1].

Biografia

Dopo aver lavorato come DJ a Boston, Baker si trasferì nel 1979 a New York, ove entrò in contatto con la nascente scena hip hop e venne scritturato dalla Salsoul.^[1] Dopo essere ritornato temporaneamente a Boston, ove produsse alcuni singoli di altri artisti, Baker iniziò una fortunata collaborazione con artisti hip hop come Afrika Bambaataa e Planet Patrol.^[1] Nel 1983 produsse Confusion dei New Order, che divenne un classico delle discoteche.^[1] È anche celebre per aver firmato remix per vari artisti come Jill Jones (Mia Bocca, 1987), i Pet Shop Boys (In the Night, 1986, storica sigla del programma televisivo The Clothes Show) e Tina Turner (Whatever You Want (The Massive Jungle Mix), 1996).^[2]
