Il film, diretto da George Archainbaud su una sceneggiatura di Norman Houston, fu prodotto da Herman Schlom^[1] per la RKO Radio Pictures.^[2] Fu girato nelle Alabama Hills e nell'Anchor Ranch a Lone Pine, nell'RKO Encino Ranch a Encino e a San Fernando Mission, Mission Hills, in California,^[3] dal 27 marzo ai primi di aprile del 1950. Il titolo di lavorazione fu Treasure of Los Alamos.^[4]

Il film fu distribuito negli Stati Uniti dal 5 agosto 1950^[5] al cinema dalla RKO Radio Pictures.^[2] È stato distribuito anche in Brasile con il titolo Tesouro da Fronteira.^[5]
