（形容詞・副詞の比較級に用いて）～よりも
- You are a better swimmer than she.
  君は、彼女より水泳がうまいね。
  You are a better swimmer than she is.のisが略されたものなので、You are a better swimmer than herは誤用、ただし、英語圏においても一般に見られる誤用である。シェイクスピアですら、『ジュリアス・シーザー』で、A man no mightier than thyself or me. . .と言う表現を用いている。
- They like you more than her.
  彼らは、彼女より君が好きだ。
  この文は、They like you more than they like her.であるので、They like you more than sheはこの意味では誤用となり、They like you more than she likes you.（彼女が君を好きであることよりさらに彼らは君が好きだ）の意味となる。
（関係代名詞的に用いて）～よりも。
