1935. gadā Jaunraunas pagastā dzīvoja 689 iedzīvotāji (t.sk. 97.2% latviešu, 7 poļi, 5 vācieši un četri krievi)[3] Pagasta platība 1935. gadā bija 4002 ha. Pagastam bijis savs pagasta nams, pagasta skola, kapsēta, no valdības apstiprināta Savstarpējā uguns apdrošināšanas biedrība, dziedāšanas un mūzikas biedrība “Dziesmu koris”[4], dramatiskais pulciņš.[5] Divus gadus pēc dziedāšanas un mūzikas biedrības dibināšanas (1879. gads), Jaunraunā tika atvērta arī bibliotēka. To pēc kāda laika pārņēma Jaunraunas lauksaimniecības biedrība, kas pagastā atbildēja par kultūras dzīvi — pagasta namā tika iekārtota skatuve, rīkotas teātra izrādes, kā arī veicināta sadarbība ar kaimiņu kultūras biedrībām.[6]
Jaunraunas muiža agrākos laikos bija Raunas pilsmuižas pusmuiža. 1775. gadā Krievijas impērijas ķeizariene Elizabete to dāvināja grāfam Ņikitinam Trubeckojam.[4] Vairākas reizes tikusi pārdāvināta, 1896. gadā to mantoja gvardu leitnanta Augusta Joahima fon Pandersa dēls Nikolajs fon Panders.[4]
Muižas kungu nams celts 19. gadsimtā. Tas tika uzskatīts par vienu no izcilākajiem klasicisma stila muižu paraugiem Cēsu rajonā.[7] Muižā 20. gadsimta astoņdesmitajos gados uzsākta restaurācija, taču tā netika pabeigta un šobrīd muižas kungu māja ir kritiskā stāvoklī.[8] Kā vēsta vēstures liecības, Jaunraunas muižai piederējušas divas pusmuižas — Kārļkalna un Pētermuiža, ūdens dzirnavas (Lankas dzirnavas), dēļu zāģētava ar ūdens spēku, miltu maltuve un materiālu veikals muižas krogā.[4]

1924.gada 24.augustā Jaunraunas kapsētā atklāja pieminekli sešiem cīņās pret landesvēru kritušajiem (1919.gada 22.jūnijā) 5.Cēsu kājnieku pulka karavīriem.[10] Piemineklim līdzekļus savāca toreizēja Jaunraunas pagasta sabiedrība, bet tā autors ir Rīgas akmeņkalis Teicis.[3] Piemineklis ir no granīta, stilizēta ozola stumbra veidā, kura strupi nocirsto virsotni vainago pietēstus ozola zarus imitējošs krusts. Pieminekļa stumbrā ieslīpēta plāksne ar tekstu: "Par Latvijas neatkarību kritušiem 1919.G. 22. VI Cēsu kājnieku pulka kareivjiem, Jaunraunas pagasts".[8] Tā atklāšanā piedalījās Latvijas Armijas komandiera štāba priekšnieks ģenerālis Jānis Buivids un pieminekli iesvētīja Cēsu draudzes mācītājs Pēteris Apkalns.[11]
2000. gada 14. jūnijā Jaunraunā tika atklāta piemiņas vieta represētajiem ciema iedzīvotājiem. Tēlnieces G.Grundmanes izveidotajā piemiņas vietā izvietoti laukakmeņi ar to māju nosaukumiem, kuru iedzīvotāji tika izsūtīti.[3] Padomju okupācijas varas iestādes 1941. gadā no Jaunraunas izsūtīja 7 iedzīvotājus, bet 1949. gadā — 40 iedzīvotājus.[3]
