തദ്ദേശീയത

ജീവശാസ്ത്രത്തിൽ ഒരു സ്പീഷിസ് ഏതെങ്കിലും പ്രത്യേക ഭൂപ്രദേശത്തോ, ദ്വീപിലോ, രാജ്യത്തോ അതുമല്ലെങ്കിൽ എങ്ങനെയെങ്കിലും വിവരിക്കപ്പെട്ട സവിശേഷമായ ഇടങ്ങളിലോ, പ്രത്യേക സ്വഭാവങ്ങളോടുകൂടിയ പ്രദേശത്തോ മാത്രം കാണുന്ന ജീവ/സസ്യജാലങ്ങളെ കുറിക്കാൻ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന പദമാണ് തദ്ദേശീയത (Endemism) അല്ലെങ്കിൽ Endemic. മറ്റുള്ള ഇടങ്ങളിലും കാണപ്പെടുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ അതിനെ തദ്ദേശീയം എന്നു വിളിക്കാറില്ല. തദ്ദേശീയ സ്പീഷിസുകളുടെ നാശത്തിനു പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട കാരണങ്ങൾ കൃഷി, ഖനനം, മരംവെട്ട് എന്നിവയെല്ലാം ആണ്.
