മാരി സ്റ്റോപ്‌സ്

ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാരിയായ ഒരു എഴുത്തുകാരിയും പാലിയോബോട്ടണിസ്റ്റും ബീജഗുണവർദ്ധനവിജ്ഞാനശാഖയുടെ പ്രചാരകയും സ്ത്രീശാക്തീകരണത്തിൽ പ്രമുഖയുമായിരുന്നു മാരി ഷാർലറ്റ് കാർമൈക്കൽ സ്റ്റോപ്‌സ് (ജീവിതകാലം: 15 ഒക്ടോബർ 1880 – 2 ഒക്ടോബർ 1958). സസ്യഫോസിൽ പഠനത്തിലും കൽക്കരി വർഗ്ഗീകരണത്തിലും വലിയ സംഭാവനകൾ നൽകിയിട്ടുള്ള ഇവർ മാഞ്ചസ്റ്റർ സർവ്വകലാശാലയിലെ ആദ്യ വനിതാ അധ്യാപികയുമായിരുന്നു. രണ്ടാമത്തെ ഭർത്താവായ Humphrey Verdon Roe -യോടൊപ്പം മേരി ബ്രിട്ടനില ആദ്യ ജനനനിയന്ത്രണക്ലിനിൿ സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. ഗർഭനിരോധനത്തിന് ഉതകുന്ന തുറന്നമാർഗങ്ങൾ വിശദീകരിക്കുന്ന ബർത്ത് കൺട്രോൾ ന്യൂസിന്റെ എഡിറ്ററും ഇവരായിരുനു. 1918 -ൽ ഇവർ എഴുതിയ Married Love എന്ന പുസ്തകം വലിയവിവാദങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടാക്കുകയും ഗർഭനിരോധനചർച്ചകൾ പൊതുഇടങ്ങളിലേക്ക് എത്തിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഗർഭച്ഛിദ്രത്തെ എതിർത്തിരുന്ന ഇവർ ഗർഭനിരോധനമാണ് വേണ്ടതെന്നുവാദിച്ചിരുന്നു.^[1]
