ഫ്രാൻസിലെ അൽസെയ്സ് പ്രവിശ്യയുടെ തൽസ്ഥാനവും ഫ്രാൻസിലെ തന്നെ പ്രധാനനഗരങ്ങളിലൊന്നുമാണ് സ്ട്രാസ്ബർഗ്.വടക്കുകിഴക്കൻ ഫ്രാൻസിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന സ്ട്രാസ്ബർഗ് നഗരം യൂറോപ്യൻ പാർലമെനിന്റെ ഔദ്യോഗിക സീറ്റുകൂടിയാണ്.ജർമ്മനിയോട് അതിരിടുന്ന സ്ട്രാസ്ബർഗ് നഗരം റൈൻ നദിയുടെ തീരത്തായാണ് നിലകൊള്ളുന്നത്.സ്ട്രാസ്ബർഗ് തുറമുഖം റൈൻ നദീതീരത്തുള്ളതിൽ വെച്ച് രണ്ടാമത്തെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ തുറമുഖമാണ്.2011ലെ കണക്കുകൾ അനുസരിച്ച് സ്ട്രാസ്ബർഗിലെ ജനസംഖ്യ 2,70,000 ആണ്.സ്ട്രാസ്ബർഗിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ഗ്രാന്റ് ദ്വീപ് 1988ൽ ലോകപൈതൃകസ്ഥാനം ആയി യുനെസ്കോ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു^[4][5]
