തോമസ് സി ജെർഡോൺ

ഒരു ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ഡോക്ടറും ജന്തുശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനും സസ്യശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനും ആയിരുന്നു തോമസ് സി ജെർഡോൺ (Thomas Caverhill Jerdon) (12 ഒക്ടോബർ 1811 – 12 ജൂൺ 1872)^[1] ഇന്ത്യയിലെ പക്ഷികളെപ്പറ്റി ആദ്യമായിത്തന്നെ വിശദമായി പഠനം നടത്തിയ ആളായിരുന്നു ജെർഡോൺ. (ജർഡോണിയ) എന്ന ജനുസ് അടക്കം നിരവധി സസ്യസ്പീഷിസുകൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പേരിൽ നാമകരണം ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. അതു പോലെ തന്നെ വിരളമായ പക്ഷി ജർഡോൺസ് കോർസരും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പേരിൽ നാമകരണം നടത്തപ്പെട്ടതാണ്.
