Awal hidup

Reginald Kenneth Dwight lahir pada 25 Mac 1947 di Pinner, Middlesex, Beliau merupakan anak sulung Stanley Dwight (1925–1991) dan anak tunggal Sheila Eileen (naam keluarga asal - Harris; 1925–2017),^[4][5][6] Dia idbersarkan oleh datuk nenek sebelah ibunya di Pinner.

Kerjaya muzik

Dwight mengambil nama "Elton John" sempena nama dua anggota dalam Bluesology: Elton Dean yang memain saksofon dan Long John Baldry yang menyumbang suara vokal.^[7] Beliau menukar namanya secara rasmi kepada Elton Hercules John pada 7 Januari 1972.^[8]
