In 1792 werd haar <a href="/nl/Pamflet" title="Pamflet" class="wl">pamflet</a> <i><a href="/nl/A_Vindication_of_the_Rights_of_Woman" title="A Vindication of the Rights of Woman" class="wl">A Vindication of the Rights of Woman</a></i> gepubliceerd. Dit pamflet wordt naast de <i><a href="/nl/Verklaring_van_de_rechten_van_de_vrouw_en_de_burgeres" title="Verklaring van de rechten van de vrouw en de burgeres" class="wl">Déclaration des Droits de la Femme et des la Citoyenne</a></i> van <a href="/nl/Olympe_de_Gouges" title="Olympe de Gouges" class="wl">Olympe de Gouges</a> vaak beschouwd als een van de eerste <a href="/nl/Feminisme" title="Feminisme" class="wl">feministische</a> werken en het baande mede de weg voor algemeen gebruik van het begrip '<a href="/nl/Vrouwenrechten" title="Vrouwenrechten" class="wl">vrouwenrechten</a>'. Mary Wollstonecraft is de moeder van Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin beter bekend als <a href="/nl/Mary_Shelley" title="Mary Shelley" class="wl">Mary Shelley</a>, de auteur van <i><a href="/nl/Frankenstein_(roman)" title="Frankenstein (roman)" class="wl">Frankenstein (The modern Prometheus)</a></i>.</p>

Mary Wollstonecraft , 27 april 1759 – Londen, 10 september 1797) was een Engels schrijfster en voorvechter voor vrouwenrechten. In 1792 werd haar pamflet A Vindication of the Rights of Woman gepubliceerd. Dit pamflet wordt naast de Déclaration des Droits de la Femme et des la Citoyenne van Olympe de Gouges vaak beschouwd als een van de eerste feministische werken en het baande mede de weg voor algemeen gebruik van het begrip 'vrouwenrechten'. Mary Wollstonecraft is de moeder van Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin beter bekend als Mary Shelley, de auteur van Frankenstein .
