De Amerikaanse speelfilm The Thing, ook bekend als John Carpenter's The Thing (USA), is een horror/sciencefictionfilm uit 1982, geregisseerd door John Carpenter. Het scenario is gebaseerd op het korte verhaal Who Goes There? van John W. Campbell. Het verhaal was al eerder in 1951 verfilmd onder de titel: The Thing from Another World.
