Anthony Phillips

Anthony Edwin «Ant» Phillips (fødd 23. desember 1951) er ein engelsk multiinstrumentalist, mest kjend som den første gitaristen i det britiske bandet Genesis.^[1] Han spelte gitar og song korvokal fram til han slutta i 1970, etter innspelinga av det andre albumet deira, Trespass. Han slutta fordi han hadde sceneskrekk og legen hans sa at det beste nok var om han slutta i bandet. Han er kjend måte han spelar 12-strengsgitar på, noko ein kan høyre på dei tidlegaste songane til Genesis.

Etter han slutta i Genesis studerte Phillips klassisk musikk (særleg klassisk gitar) og spelte inn fleire innspelingar i lag med Harry Williamson, Mike Rutherford og Phil Collins, blant andre. Han spelte klaverinstrument på demoane til Peter Gabriel i 1976. Det første soloalbumet hans, The Geese and the Ghost, kom ut i 1977.

Phillips gav ut Wise After the Event i 1978 og Sides kom året etter. Ingen av albuma selde særleg bra. I 1981 samarbeidde Phillips med Andrew Latimer frå Camel og medverka på albumet deira The Single Factor (1982).

Phillips gav ut popalbumet Invisible Men i 1983. Sidan den gong har Phillips laga mykje filmmusikk i England. I 1990-åra gav han ut The Living Room Concert, med akustiske versjonar framført aleine av sine tidlegare songar.
