FIFA blei grunnlagd 21. mai 1904 i Paris av fotballforbunda i Belgia, Danmark, Frankrike, Nederland, Spania, Sverige og Sveits.^[1] Norges Fotballforbund (NFF) slutta seg til FIFA i 1908.^[1]
