Argir (IPA: [ˈaɹʤɪɹ], foreldet dansk skrivemåte: Arge) er en bygd på Færøyene. Argir danner en sammenhengende bebyggelse med hovedstaden Tórshavn og tilhører Tórshavnar kommuna. Argir har avlastet bykjernen for mye av befolkningsveksten. Den 1. januar 2016 hadde Argir 2 032 innbyggere.[1]
Navnet Argir kommer av norrønt ærgi, «sommerbeite». Språkforskere har derfor foreslått å kalle stedet Ærgir. Fra 1500-tallet lå det et sykehus for spedalske på Argir. Det huset også en del fattigglemmer. Da spedalskheten var utryddet omkring 1750 ble sykehuset brukt som fattiggård. Vanlig bebyggelse på Argir kom på 1600-tallet.[2] Fremveksten av et bygdesamfunn på Argir tok likevel ikke til før en mann kjøpte stedet på auksjon i 1828.[3]
Administrativt ble Argir en del av Tórshavns landdistrikt[4] i Suðurstreymoyar prestagjalds kommuna ved innføringen av det kommunale selvstyret på Færøyene i 1872. Etter flere kommunedelinger ble Argir en del av Tórshavnar uttanbíggja kommuna i 1930. I 1978 ble Hoyvík og Hvítanes innlemmet i Tórshavnar kommuna, så resten av kommunen ble Argja kommuna. I 1997 ble også Argja kommuna innlemmet i Tórshavn.[5]
Argja kirkja ble innviet i 1974 og tilhører den lutherske Fólkakirkjan. Kirken er sognekirke for Argir, Syðradalur og Norðradalur. Argja kirkja tilhører Suðurstreymoys vestlige prestegjeld.[6]
